Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, in association with several state lawmakers and the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, held a joint tour of farms and other locations in Lycoming and Sullivan counties that sustained damage during September flooding. George Greig, Secretary of Agriculture and Michael Krancer, Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection, participated in the tour. The delegation stopped at three farms that sustained serious damage in the flooding, which was made worse because gravel bars and debris had built up in the streams. Farmers, and some state lawmakers, are asking the state to change regulations governing the cleaning of streams to prevent further damage from occurring.
